Hologic's Diagnostic Solutions Division is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), responsible for bringing together and communicating to customers, the scientific and commercial benefits of the Hologic Diagnostic product portfolio. A successful MSL understands and articulates at the highest clinical level all technical aspects of the products, yet appreciates commercially what is necessary for the product to be fully implemented.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the exchange of medical and scientific data with laboratory directors, physicians and other clinical professionals regarding Hologic’s products.
  • Works closely with sales and applications to ensure that expectations are set properly with laboratories interested in evaluating Hologic’s products.
  • Communicates routinely with regional sales and marketing teams to understand the commercial goals of the territory, and ensure that presentations and communications with customers are in line with these goals.
  • Identifies and recommends physicians or KOLs as potential participants of advisory boards and speaker bureaus to discuss Hologic products and other medical/scientific topics of mutual interest. Responds to and documents unsolicited requests for scientific information regarding Hologic products, including those in development, as appropriate.
  • Travels within the assigned region to establish and maintain relationships within the clinical and medical communities.
  • Conveys scientific and medical information to health care professionals to educate them on current topics in diagnostic laboratory medicine, and to ensure awareness and appropriate use of Hologic products.
  • Delivers evidence-based scientific presentations to small and large audiences in a manner consistent with the ethical goals and objectives of the Hologic Scientific and Medical Affairs Department.
  • Engages in activities as directed to support Scientific and Medical Affairs organization to ensure corporate and department goals are achieved.
  • Maintains clinical, scientific and technical expertise via attendance as directed at conferences, technical meetings and symposia, review of scientific journals and partnership with Hologic product and technology experts.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment, and communicate regularly with other MSLs, sales management, applications, marketing, and R&D to understand scientific/clinical information, business strategies, and market dynamics in order to execute the appropriate clinical discussions with customers.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of applicable disease states that is/are reflected by use of Hologic product(s).
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Hologic product(s) as well as the competitive landscape in the molecular diagnostics industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience writing and publishing materials for peer-reviewed publications preferred.
  • Excellent public speaking skills required.
  • Excellent scientific analytical skills.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in an applicable scientific discipline, with post-doctoral fellowship training in a biomedical science discipline desired but not required; MD degree with 0-2 years of research experience or residency training desired but not mandatory.

Experience:

  • Minimum one year of medical or scientific experience within a medical device, biotechnology or pharmaceutical company required; 3 years preferred.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Expertise in Microsoft Windows and Office, specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other popular business software desirable.

Additional Details:

  • Work is performed in a home office, medical office and laboratory office environments.
  • Regularly required to travel up to 75% of the time.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $140,900 to $220,400 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
