Traffic Controller
Location: Arlington National Cemetery
Traffic Controller personnel safely direct pedestrians and vehicular traffic at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) in Arlington, Virginia.
Employees performing duties at the site are Ambassadors of Arlington National Cemetery, and are expected to display superior quality customer service skills at all times, including the ability to communicate clearly, coherently, professionally, and respectfully regardless of the situation.
Please Note:
1. Each shift is approximately 10 hours, and it is normal for employees to be on their feet or to be walking for 8-9 hours of their shift.
2. Employees work in all weather conditions (rain/sleet, snow, thunder and lightning, hail, 100+ degree temperatures, 100% humidity).
3. Candidates for these positions must be physically able to fulfil the requirements of the job.
- The availability to do shift work, weekend work and holiday work is required.
Non-supervisory candidates must possess:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Two years of work experience involving vehicle/pedestrian traffic operations. Equivalent work experience may include controlling crosswalks, controlling intersections, and ensuring the safe flow of vehicles and pedestrians within the same space.
· Must understand safety as it relates to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
· Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, a high degree of courtesy, and the skills to provide accurate information in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
· Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language with sufficient fluency to support the requirements of the contract.
· Must be cognizant of rules, regulations, and etiquette applicable to funerals, ceremonies, cemetery visitation, and other activities occurring at ANC.
