Job Description

DESCRIPTION

The Community Impact Comms team is seeking a high-judgment and self-motivated communications professional to lead disaster relief communications for Amazon. This person will serve as a primary point of contact for Amazon’s communications before, during, and after natural disasters—rapidly responding to crisis situations and proactively identifying opportunities to communicate Amazon’s relief efforts.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills, thrive in ambiguous situations, and excel at building scalable processes. They should be able to toggle between immediate response needs and long-term strategic planning, while maintaining Amazon's high bar for clear, effective communication.

Key job responsibilities
Crisis Communications

• Serve as a primary communications point of contact during a natural disaster, building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships
• React to media escalations and provide measured and trusted counsel to business leaders, working in coordination with issues management teams and local PR teams
• Develop and document playbooks for managing Amazon’s communications during natural disasters

Proactive Communications & Media Relations

• Set and drive proactive communications strategy about Amazon’s global disaster relief hubs, global logistics, and technology support
• Identify trends, working across business leaders as well as across the communications and public policy organizations to drive storytelling on relief efforts
• Educate media contacts about Amazon’s global disaster relief strategy
• Serve as a communications advisor to executives, preparing media briefings and counsel

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Bachelor's degree
