Job Description

Our USGO American Gulf – Nashville Area team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Tennessee to support the operation and maintenance of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Nashville and the surrounding area. We are seeking a skilled Pipeline Technician who possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems, reciprocating compressors, turbines, gas measurement facilities, and other related equipment. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Responsibilities include locating and visually marking subsurface pipeline infrastructure with paint and/or flags; overseeing and managing pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments; completing required Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company documentation; performing pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repair, clearing and inspection of right-of-way, and assisting with tie-ins of mainline valves; performing pipeline locates through the Tennessee state one-call system; patrolling pipeline right-of-way and assisting with leak surveys; operating company truck; operating compressor engines and support equipment; planning, coordinating, and performing mechanical maintenance activities including routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements, and major maintenance projects; troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining gas-fired reciprocating compressors, turbines, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large-bank cooler fans and gear boxes, large diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipment; assisting in full or partial gas compressor overhauls; completing work orders, entering data into job plans, creating new work orders in SAP; and other tasks as required. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, experience locating and marking subsurface pipeline infrastructure, and previous energy industry or related experience. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of reciprocating compressors, turbines, and standby generators, knowledge of regulators and/or meters, and industrial experience in a plant environment. The position requires a valid driver’s license and safe driving record, successful completion of pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing, availability for 24/7 call out and emergency response, travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, and ability to work in adverse weather and conditions including heavy lifting and cramped spaces. Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function and motor vehicle records will be checked following a conditional offer of employment.
