Job Description

Physician Affiliate Group of New York ( PAGNY ) is adding a Nephrologist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. The new Health & Wellness Institute offers outpatient services—from primary and preventive care to specialty services for children and adults—all designed to keep our community healthy and accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Examines patients, orders or performs appropriate diagnostic tests, develops assessment and treatment plan.
  • Timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record admission, progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Provides patient education and counseling covering health status, test results, disease processes and discharge planning.
  • Consults with other members of the professional staff as needed.
  • Provides clinical guidance and direction to residents, medical students and other members of the healthcare team as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Privacy and Security rules outlined in the HIPAA guideline.
  • Assists in the establishment and maintenance of standards of performance for physicians and other professional employees working in the service.
  • Adherence to all facility, PAGNY and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains required credentials, current licensure and CME requirements.
  • Performs other administrative, professional, consultative duties as needed by the Department Chairperson.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved medical school.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency program in nephrology.
  • Board certification in Nephrology or the ability to become board certified within 5 years of hire.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Possession of a valid DEA license.
  • Excellent bedside manner and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with an under-served patient population preferred.

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $239,575 based on 40-hour work week.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $359,052**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $55,520***.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.

    • Additional employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for you and your family.
