Jira Administrator
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator to join a long-term contract in Basking Ridge, NJ. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing and configuring Jira in enterprise environments and will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, customization, and administration of Jira instances. This is an onsite position requiring 3 days per week in the office and is open to local candidates only.
Key Responsibilities:
Jira Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain Jira instances to support various business teams and workflows.
Customization & Configuration: Customize and configure Jira workflows, issue types, screens, permissions, and projects based on business requirements.
Plugin Management: Install, configure, and maintain Jira plugins to extend functionality and improve the system's capabilities.
User Management: Handle user access, permissions, groups, and security schemes to ensure that only the right people have access to the right data.
Troubleshooting & Support: Provide ongoing support for Jira users, addressing issues and resolving bugs or configuration challenges.
Integration: Work on integrating Jira with other tools and systems used within the enterprise (e.g., Confluence, Bitbucket, Slack, etc.).
Upgrade & Maintenance: Manage Jira updates and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions between versions with minimal disruption to users.
Reporting & Dashboards: Build custom reports and dashboards for project tracking and visibility.
Best Practices: Establish and maintain Jira best practices for usage, processes, and configurations.
Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure that Jira configurations meet their needs.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator in an enterprise environment.
Strong experience with Jira Software (Server/Cloud) configuration and administration.
Expertise in Jira workflows, issue types, permissions schemes, custom fields, screen schemes, and security schemes.
Experience with Jira plugins (e.g., Tempo, Zephyr, ScriptRunner, etc.) and managing installations/configurations.
Experience with Jira Query Language (JQL) for creating reports, filters, and dashboards.
User management experience in Jira, including configuring user roles and permissions.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum processes and how Jira supports Agile project management.
Experience integrating Jira with other tools like Confluence, Slack, Bitbucket, Service Desk, or other Atlassian products.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve Jira-related issues promptly.
Local candidates only (must be able to work onsite 3 days a week in Basking Ridge, NJ).
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with Jira Data Center or Jira Cloud administration.
Experience with Atlassian Automation and scripting (e.g., ScriptRunner or Automation for Jira).
Familiarity with DevOps tools and integrating Jira with CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of ITSM processes (e.g., Service Desk, Incident Management).
Previous experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
Additional Information:
This is a long-term contract position with the possibility of extension.
Local candidates only - must be able to work onsite 3 days a week in Basking Ridge, NJ.
