What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will serve as the Region's Training and Exercise Specialist. Typical assignments include:

  • Assisting the Regional Training Manager and Regional Exercise Officer with the development, administration, and execution of Regional Exercises and the Regional Training Plan.
  • Compiling inputs from key stakeholders and other senior leadership to develop annual regional exercises and the annual training plan by developing HSEEP compliant, key exercise program documents and training documents including the master training tracker (MTT) and training spend plan.
  • Helping to facilitate exercise planning meetings, tabletop exercises, and training meetings. Develops briefing products and slides to assist in the execution of training and exercise meetings.
  • Developing monthly reports and assisting with data collection from Regional exercises and training when requested.
  • Assisting the Regional Training Manager in the planning, development, monitoring, and evaluation of all regional training requirements, particularly as training relates to state, tribal, and local partners.

Qualifications

The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

  • Assisting with the administration of organizational training and exercise programs including planning, scheduling, coordination, and budget for training classes and instructors; and
  • Planning, developing, and executing emergency management exercises.
  • OR - one full academic year of graduate level Education. - OR - a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. - OR - a combination of education and experience.


Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) Provision: Grade-point average (GPA) -- Applicants must have a GPA of (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (''B" or better) as recorded on their official transcripts, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final two (2) years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (''B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or required courses in the major field completed during the final two (2) years of the curriculum.

Education
