Job Description The Coder 1 performs coding audits and review of outpatient provider services to support coding optimization and compliance for the medical group. This is an entry level position supporting multiple specialties across the medical group with coding for evaluation and management and procedural services. In addition to the audit and review work, the Coder 1 will work side by side with outpatient providers providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and support with the code entry process, documentation, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCC coding in alignment with current medical group reimbursement requirements.

Required Qualifications: - upon hire: AAPC or AHIMA coding-related credential.
- 1 year Medical coder experience in a medical office or physician billing office.
- Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business and documentation outcomes.
- A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with physicians, with an emphasis on coaching and communication.
- EMR experience.
- Experience coaching and training physicians.

Required Qualifications: - National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders upon hire. Or
- National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or
- National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or
Required upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or - National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or
- National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or
- National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association upon hire. Or
- National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association upon hire.
- 3 years of recent outpatient medical coding experience.
- Experience working with physicians, with an emphasis on coaching and communication.
- EMR experience, preferably Epic.
- Experience coaching and training physicians.
- Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business and documentation outcomes.
- A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
