Job Description

Dabir, Inc. is looking for a Civil Engineer to join our team to support public work clients in San Francisco. The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the construction of various projects such as roads, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and water and sewage systems. 

The ideal candidate will have expertise in checking mapping, permit review, and plan checking for Public Works projects in San Francisco. and have the ability to dig into a situation to find all factors, weigh the options, and provide the customer with the best possible solution. The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge to
Roadway, Mapping, ADA, AASHTO and HDM, NACTO bikeway design, survey and roadway staking, pavement section design and pavement condition assessment. Must be able to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review street improvement permits, minor sidewalk encroachments, and excavation permits
  • Review plans for compliance to applicable codes, requirements and standards
  • Review plans ADA requirements
  • Coordinate review with other City Agencies
  • Prepares, reviews, and checks routine studies, calculations, designs, drawings, sketches, and plans for a variety of engineering projects using CAD and other software tools
  • Conducts field inspections of existing structures to determine the necessity for future construction, repair, or maintenance
  • Conducts preliminary field studies and surveys and collects data relative to the preparation of designs and drawings; reviews and analyzes field data and results of office research to determine necessary corrective measures
  • Communicates with architects, engineers, building contractors, utility companies, other city agencies and the general public to explain code requirements and discuss compliance of particular construction project
  • Develop public hearing information and present materials at public hearings
  • Prepares permit documentation
  • Complete other related duties as required

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
  • Preferred Licensure as a professional engineer (PE) or EIT
  • Understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software
  • Understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, bridges, roads, and other related structures
  • US Citizen or Work Permit/Green Card required
