Job Description The Chief Risk Officer (CRO)- Finance is the most senior operating officer for Risk and risk-related governance with Finance. It reports the Corporate Controller with a dual reporting to the Vice Chair | Chief Risk Officer, and a dotted line to the Administration Chief Risk Officer. The Finance CRO provides oversight of the business line's risk-taking activities and ensures adherence to the Risk Management Framework, including the Risk Appetite and Risk Scorecard and to all risk related and departmental policies, processes and procedures. This executive will oversee the ongoing identification and assessment of the business line's material risks and key controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Finance CRO is responsible for the identification and escalation of material risks and control deficiencies to the appropriate parties, including significant instances where risks are not aligned with Risk Appetite, as well as significant instances of non-compliance with policy requirements. Other responsibilities include ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to evaluate root cause for adverse events and driving corrective actions to strengthen risk management practices or reduce risk in their line of business. This Risk Officer ensures adherence to programs that are established to attract, develop, and retain the talent and staffing levels necessary to support U.S. Bank's Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite. Additionally, this leader will drive the identification of internal and external events as well as potential scenarios that could adversely impact U.S. Bank and Finance. They will oversee and direct activities to monitor ongoing compliance with Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite requirements. This includes involvement in strategic planning, new business activities, and other key business decision-making. The Finance CRO is a voting member of several senior operating committees and subcommittees. They will be part of the Global Accounting and Operations Senior Leadership team and ensure appropriate risk governance and reporting within Finance. Additionally, this role has shared risk oversight in Europe and Canada for Finance. They will interact regularly with executive management, external auditors and banking regulators. Finally, this executive must a detailed understanding of key financial processes and oversee processes and risks associated with key financial processes, including Sarbanes-Oxley. With other financial leadership, they should demonstrate awareness of risk processes with a charge to identify potential risks, evaluation of those risks, and management of risk mitigation to minimize the impact. They will also lead the Testing function across finance and administration which provides both evaluation of controls, quality assurance and issue identification in on-shore and off-shore environments.
