What you will do: You will conduct and enhance audit selection through data analytics and information reporting, identifying new areas of non-compliance. Primary job duties include:
  • Research and utilize data from the Data Warehouse, DORWAY (SCDOR's online tax portal), and other available systems to provide audit leads and referrals for audit managers, supervisors, and auditors in our Field Operations Division.
  • Review tax returns, company filing history, financial statements, and other related information to identify unreported income and potential audit issues for the purpose of audit selection.
  • Compile all monthly metric reports and dashboards for field audit and audit lead/referral reports to be disseminated.
  • Research data and information to identify potential tax gaps and work in partnership with others, including external agencies that may assist in obtaining data and information useful for audit selection purposes.
  • Communicate with organizational officers, audit managers, audit supervisors, and field auditors regarding potential audit leads and referrals.
Either:
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis (transcripts required) OR
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis with 12 hours of accounting (transcripts required)
Additional Requirement:
  • A valid driver's license
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

  • Hours : Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week).
  • Telework schedule : This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
  • Office location : Depending on space availability, you may have the option to choose which SCDOR office you work in (Columbia, Charleston, Florence, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, or Rock Hill.).
