Job Description
We are looking for an Associate Surface Designer for a mens' apparel brand. This is a temp to perm position for a top fashion company in New York, New York.
Responsibilities:
- Create both conceptual and final artworks, as well as create the necessary technical print development sheets to send to factories.
- Communicate directly with multiple oversea suppliers/factories daily to provide necessary color and s/off comments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Surface Design, Fashion Design, or related major/field.
- Minimum 3+ years previous work experience in a Surface Design related role.
- Extremely strong digital print design is required in Photoshop & a strong understanding of Illustrator.
- Need to be able to understand garment tech packs/sketches and has a background with engineered/placement prints.
- Attention to detail and artwork/image quality is critical.
- Strong knowledge of all kinds of inks & surface techniques (digital, rotary/screen, laser, heat transfer, plastisol, high density, foil, flocking etc) and how to properly execute and apply creatively in the designs.
- Needs a well-rounded understanding of printing on different fabric bases for wovens, yarndyes, swim, outerwear & denim. Additional knowledge/background in women's, knits, graphics will be beneficial.
- Natural color sense and understanding of prints/graphics for men’s market that are in line with Robert Graham DNA.
- Extremely strong communication, organization, and follow up skills are essential.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail.
- Experienced in both a PC/Mac based environment.
- Pro-active, committed, and passionate about their field who has an optimistic attitude and works well as a team player. It is important to think outside the box and to help find creative solutions.
- Must be able to immediately start work fulltime up until middle/end of August.
- Must be able to creatively work in a remote environment using OneDrive, Teams, Acrobat, and screen sharing. Strong Excel skills is also preferred.
