TAX POLICY ANALYST (OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT) - SHAKMAN EXEMPT Join to apply for the TAX POLICY ANALYST (OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT) - SHAKMAN EXEMPT role at Cook County Government Overview The Cook County Office of the President is seeking a Tax Policy Analyst to support research and development of assessment and tax-related policy. The analyst will assist with data collection, policy analysis, and preparation of reports and recommendations for senior leadership, community stakeholders, and the public. This role contributes to strategic planning, identifies opportunities for process improvements, and provides administrative support to senior leadership and working groups focused on tax policy. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical, research, and communication skills, with a passion for public service and fiscal policy. Role Summary Assists in policy research and development, contributes to memoranda and recommendations related to government and community stakeholders, and supports property tax data collection, analysis, and reporting. Develops and implements policies to improve procedures and supports strategic planning for assessment and tax policy. This position is within the Office of the Cook County Board President and involves high-level policymaking and confidentiality. Responsibilities Assist in developing and implementing tax and assessment policy strategies. Research and develop policies supporting Cook County tax priorities. Report on county-wide priorities and participate in stakeholder discussions. Track and analyze data, prepare reports, and support policy recommendations. Support legislative analysis and develop property tax-related content. Assist senior leadership with meetings, agendas, and materials. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant property tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Bachelor's in Political Science or Public Policy and 4 years of relevant experience. Skills and Abilities Data collection, analysis, and reporting skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Knowledge of tax law and regulatory processes. Ability to synthesize complex information and present clearly. Additional Information This is a full-time, entry-level position located in downtown Chicago. The role involves confidentiality and political considerations.
