*Substance Abuse Counselor – Empower Recovery, Transform Lives!*
*Job Summary:*
Are you a compassionate, client-centered professional ready to help individuals overcome addiction and build a pathway to lasting recovery? We are seeking an experienced *Substance Abuse Counselor (SUD Counselor)* to join our dedicated team. In this full-time role, you will provide high-quality counseling services, comprehensive case management, and tailored treatment planning to support clients on their journey to recovery. Your expertise in substance abuse, mental health, and dual diagnosis treatment will be key to driving meaningful, long-term change.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *Conduct Comprehensive Assessments:*
* Perform initial biopsychosocial evaluations to determine each client’s physical, mental, and social needs, including substance abuse status and risk factors.
* *Develop Customized Treatment Plans:*
* Collaborate with clients to set recovery goals and design individualized treatment and aftercare plans, incorporating relapse prevention, self-help skills, and crisis intervention strategies.
* *Facilitate Counseling Sessions:*
* Lead individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices and motivational interviewing techniques.
* Conduct specialized workshops on topics such as relapse prevention, self-help, and money management.
* *Documentation & Case Management:*
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records using electronic case management software (e.g., CaseTrack).
* Monitor client progress over extended periods (up to six months or longer), adjusting treatment plans as necessary and ensuring compliance with program protocols.
* *Coordinate Referrals & Collaborate:*
* Network with local social service agencies, criminal justice programs, and other community resources to secure additional support and services for clients.
* Communicate any unresolved issues or concerns with the Program Manager, Counseling Supervisor, or Parole Agent Liaison to ensure comprehensive client care.
* *Crisis Intervention:*
* Provide immediate support during client crises and maintain a safe, supportive environment throughout the treatment process.
*Qualifications:*
*Required:*
* *Certification:* Current Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS), Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS), or CAADE certification as issued by the California Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
* *Experience:* Minimum of 2 years working in social services with a criminal justice population, focusing on substance abuse, mental health, and dual diagnosis treatment.
* *Technical Proficiency:* Demonstrated ability to document and track client progress using computer-based case management software.
*Preferred:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field (note: certification is mandatory and a bachelor’s degree is preferred, not a substitute for certification).
*Additional Requirements:*
* Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 per CDC guidelines; compliance with mandatory mask usage and social distancing protocols is required.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills with a strong client focus.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
