Townsen Memorial is looking for a part-time employee to work 3 days a week as a Sterile Processing Technician at our surgery center location in Katy, TX . The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible to collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers)
• Knowledge of cleaning of patient care equipment including but not limited to IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, Pneumatic pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units
• Knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment to choose the appropriate method of sterilization for particular equipment or supplies
• Prepares and pulls instruments for cases and assist with OR room readiness

REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of reusable surgical instrumentation, microsurgical instrumentation, and power equipment
• Knowledge in pulling instruments for cases, excellent record keeping, knowledgeable re: state requirements, proper equipment usage, troubleshooting of the SPD equipment, and excellent infection control knowledge
• Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Prefer a minimum of 3 years' experience in an acute hospital setting
• Current SPD Certification from an accredited program or be grandfathered in
• Current BLS

WORK WEEK SCHEDULE:

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday
• 8-hour dayshift
