Job Description

Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people. Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive and people's lives more fulfilling.

About the Team

Our mechanical engineering team is agile and has grown rapidly, and we are looking for a talented thermal engineer to join us at our Salem, Oregon facility, in a hybrid capacity. We are responsible for delivering advanced and reliable designs that meet a complex set of requirements to our customers, including software developers, applications engineers, manufacturing engineers and ultimately to fleet deployment managers. We work as a group to develop new technologies, engineer new products, and refine/maintain existing designs. The team is composed of engineers from many backgrounds and levels of experience.

About The Role

We are currently designing the next generation of Digit for commercial scale. Highly reliable and robust designs are critical to successful deployment of our robots in large quantities. Digit works in demanding environments, performing highly repetitive and heavily loaded tasks. The Staff thermal engineer will work closely with cross functional teams to understand the unique thermal requirements for our products and is responsible for delivering robots thermal solutions.

About the work

  • Act as a thermal engineer/analyst and lead thermal subsystem design
  • Own architecture, design, implementation, and testing for relevant thermal subsystems.
  • Drive engineering specifications from product requirements and work cross functionally to align engineering specifications with different domains (electrical, mechanical, industrial design, software, test, manufacturing etc.)
  • Create subsystem CAD and ensure quality
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews
  • Drive the development of specifications, requirements, test methods and protocols through formal verification to ensure functionality, safety and efficacy of design

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in heat transfer, thermal analysis, and thermal management
  • Ability to perform heat transfer analysis using conduction models and/or CFD as required
  • Ability to plan and coordinate thermal testing as required to characterize and validate thermal subsystems
  • 7+ years of thermal design experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, minimum requirement)
  • Proven experience designing thermal management subsystems from concept to final design
  • Ability to work across team boundaries to provide thermal solutions
  • Ability to be on-site at Agility's design facility as needed (minimum 6 days per month and as needed to support design activities, reviews, prototype testing, etc.)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Thermal management experience with batteries and motors
  • Advanced degree in engineering or science or robotics
  • Ansys and/or Altair simulation experience
  • PLM and PDM experience
  • Creo experience

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation Package
  • 100% Company Paid Disability, Life, Health, Dental & Vision Insurance (for AR employees)
  • Employer Matched Retirement Plan
  • Five Weeks of Paid Time Off Annually
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program
