Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This part-time Special Education Teacher position focuses on supporting students with moderate to severe autism in an elementary school setting. Located in Wake Forest, NC, the role requires working Monday through Friday, 4 to 6 hours daily, with a caseload primarily of Kindergarten to 2nd-grade students. The team includes one teacher and two teaching assistants, serving 7-8 students who display a combination of verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Most students are potty trained.

Key Qualifications:

  • Special Education Teacher credential required
  • Early Childhood license valid for Birth to Kindergarten
  • Experience and confidence working with children diagnosed with moderate to severe autism
  • Ability to engage a diverse learner population using individualized approaches

Location:Wake Forest, North Carolina Elementary School setting

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in grades K-2
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to meet developmental and educational goals
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment for students with varied communication abilities
  • Communicate effectively with families and staff about student needs and achievements
