Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This full-semester contract position offers the opportunity to work as a Special Education Teacher in a middle school setting, supporting inclusive education practices. The role is based in Edgewood, NM, at a middle school serving a diverse caseload of students with varying special needs.
Responsibilities include managing an inclusion classroom with a caseload typically ranging from 15 to 35 students, currently at 15. Primary disabilities served include Specific Learning Disability (SLD), Other Health Impairment (OHI), Emotional Disturbance (ED), Speech or Language Impairment (SLI), and Orthopedic Impairment (OI). This position requires full-time availability at 37.5 hours per week and involves developing and implementing appropriate individualized education programs (IEPs) that meet state and federal guidelines, collaborating with general education teachers, and providing tailored instruction to support student success.
