Requirements

• Positive energy and spirit with a willingness to learn, share and participate in the Sankofa Community
• Must hold PA Certification in the content area of interest
• Coursework in African American Studies, experience in alternative pedagogical development, including African Centered pedagogy and/or community program development, is a plus.

Qualifications/Required Skills:

• Pennsylvania certification in Special Education required for teachers.
• Applicants must possess all current PA state clearances (Police, Child Abuse and Fingerprinting)
• Knowledge of Special Education regulations and procedures
• Experience working with students exhibiting multiple disabilities, including: autism, ADD and ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional challenges, and developmental delays
• Excellent communication and teaching skills
• Positive, student-centered, and compassionate individual
• Experience with diagnostic assessments
• Understanding of Progress Monitoring and data collection

Ideal Candidate

The ideal teacher candidate is dedicated to the education of our youth, understands or is willing to learn about African centered education, is energetic, organized and patient in the delivery of instruction. Teachers are required to deliver differentiated instruction to their assigned group of students, implement culturally infused lessons and utilize technology available – Power School, Schoology etc., and other resources fully, to enhance delivery, understanding and high achievement of our students.
