POSITION: Special Education Instructional Coach
JOB TYPE: Full-Time
COMPENSATION: Pays up to $61 per hour
Job Summary: Full-time position to support special education staff and students in the implementation of best practices to support skill acquisition and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware License and Special Education Teacher Certification (K-12) in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
- Master in Leadership or Admin Certification preferred
- Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of special education laws and requirements
- Successful completion of Praxis II exams
- Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
- Experience in multi-cultural, diverse environments.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Special Education or Special Education Leadership role
- Proven ability to work well in, and contribute to a team environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Excellent Organizational skills
- Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with others
- Demonstrated proficiency in PowerSchool, and IEP regulations in support of student learning,
- Proven ability to build relationships with families and various staff members of all levels in support of student progress
- Deep Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations
- Preferred experience with Mediation and/or due process cases
- Efficient in collecting, reading, and explaining data
- Experience in creating and leading professional development
- Deep knowledge of research-based practices to support special education students
- Meets all legal employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master or Doctorate level in Educational leadership
- Trained in standards-based IEPs
- Trained in the science of reading
Job Responsibilities
- Support Manager of Student services in State and Federal compliance related LEAs responsibilities under IDEA
- Provide professional development on research-based and best practices for students with disabilities
- In-classroom coaching to support the implementation of research-based and best practices
- Support Educational Diagnosticians in IEP compliance as determined by state and federal regulations and how to support teachers with in-class implementation
- Support EDs with IEP meetings, communicating with families, and organization of documents
- Support in Due Process and Mediation cases
- Participant in MTSS problem-solving team meetings
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership to support student success
- Other Duties as assigned by the Manager of Student Services
