Job Title: Special Education Instructional Coach (SEIC) FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Dept Code: Job Code: Primary Supervisor: Secondary Supervisor: Grade Band Served: Location: Minimum Hours/Days: Salary Range starts at: Special Education SE Special Education Curriculum Coordinator Special Education Instructional Programs Assistant Director AGB Primarily Remote 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday SUMMARY: The Special Education Instructional Coach will work with Special Education teachers and students with disabilities to improve the quality of teaching and student learning in any of the core content areas (Reading, ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies) with a focus on Specially Designed Instruction for students with disabilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. - Demonstrate knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and assists teachers and grade level teams with the implementation of the GSE
- Build strong relationships and collaborative with teachers, administrators, district leadership, curriculum coordinators, grade band academic facilitators and instructional coaches
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resource implementation
- Demonstrate knowledge of Specially-Designed Instructional practices and Special Education classroom accommodations, instructional goals, laws, rules, and regulations
- Analyze student data to support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels
- Assists teachers to improving classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods and interventions
- Analyzes student assessment data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for all standards taught
- Analyzes student test data and advise teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs and effective practices
- Recommends changes or adjustments to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments as needed
- Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies and interventions
- Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes
- Attend grade band professional learning opportunities as needed
- Develop and conduct academic instruction professional development as needed
- Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis as needed
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) teachers and provide feedback as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by Special Education Director, Instructional Programs Assistant Director, Curriculum & Instruction and Assessment Director, Curriculum & Instructional Programs Assistant Director, and/or Superintendent
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related academic field; AND
- Three (3) years of successful special education teaching experience OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certificates/Licensure:
- GA PSC Educational Certificate
- At least one P-12 Special Education Certification in either Math or ELA Academic Content Area
- SRT4 Certification in Special Education Adapted Certification Consultative (P-12)
- TKES/LKES credentialed
- Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessments
- Strong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachers
- Ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels
- High technological skill level required
- Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Advanced Degree in Special Education, Education, or related field of study
- Leadership or coaching experience or similar certification preferred
- Advanced Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel knowledge and skills
- Proficient/Advanced data analysis skills
- Three (3) years of experience working in a similar capacity
- Proficient/Advanced experience with Infinite Campus or other SIS systems
- Experience with Zoom conferencing tool, and Google Suite
- Three (3) years virtual educational environment experience and/or previous experience as an online educator

- During critical periods, additional in-office days may be required. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic)
- Maintain a professional home office without distraction during 8-4 workday when working from home
- Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet
- Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation
- In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.
- Light lifting required.
