Overview An exciting opportunity to join one of the world’s best-in-class spa & wellness resorts! The Spa Director is responsible for the strategic planning and creative oversight of the Spa division at Canyon Ranch Tucson. The Spa Director ensures a smooth flow of business and a high level of guest satisfaction, being present with staff and guests consistently. This pivotal role oversees daily operations, staff, financial performance, and guest experiences to ensure the highest level of service and satisfaction. The Spa Director will partner closely with leadership to define and lead the business strategy for the Spa, ensuring maximization of spa revenues. This role will be a member of the Tucson Executive Committee that builds the culture of the property in the spa that aligns with the resort's brand, mission, and strategic goals. Responsibilities Leadership and Management: Lead and motivate a team of spa professionals, including managers, supervisors, estheticians, massage therapists, salon staff, spa attendants, metaphysical team, and support staff. Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to the team including the areas of hiring and supervising spa staff, training coordination, workflow structure, and procedures and protocols. Coach team on Canyon Ranch and LQA standards to ensure that standards consistently meet and exceed expectations. Write staff reviews and document any disciplinary issues in accordance with Canyon Ranch standards. Oversee and engage in test and inspect protocols to ensure standards are being met. Develop and enhance programs and policies to ensure Canyon Ranch is the employer of choice and able to attract and retain high performers and high potential colleagues. Identify and maintain staffing levels needed to deliver budgeted revenues and profitability. Actively participate in the recruiting and hiring of new team members, provide training and ensure all training manuals are up to date. Effectively oversee spa revenue, labor, and controllables, ensuring adherence to budget. Guest Experience: Ensure exceptional and personalized service to all guests. Partner on the development and implementation of innovative spa services, treatments, and wellness programming. Regularly review guest feedback and respond in a timely and effective manner. Communicate with the General Manager on all comments, concerns, and suggestions made by guests and staff. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, ambiance, and guest comfort. Operations and Financial Management: Accountable to the annual operating budget including revenues, payroll, expenses, and capital investments, to achieve or exceed profit expectations. Develop and implement effective pricing strategies for spa services. Monitor inventory, product supplies, and equipment, ensuring they are replenished and well-maintained. Where applicable, build beneficial partnerships with product, equipment, and supply vendors that include competitive pricing, technical support, and training programs. Analyze financial reports and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement. Work with the Director of Finance and General Manager to produce the annual spa budget. Marketing and Promotion: Develop and execute marketing initiatives to drive spa traffic, including special promotions, packages, and partnerships. Work closely with the marketing team to ensure the spa's offerings are promoted effectively both on-site and online. Build relationships with local businesses and potential clients to promote the resort spa as a premier destination. Compliance and Health & Safety: Ensure that the spa operates in compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. Maintain knowledge of industry standards and trends to ensure the resort spa stays competitive and relevant. Oversee training and certification programs to ensure staff maintain professional licenses and credentials. Work with Engineering to ensure upkeep of entire spa. Report all operational and maintenance items promptly and follow up to ensure completion. Collaboration: Collaborate with other resort departments (housekeeping, engineering, front desk, food & beverage, etc.) to provide an integrated and seamless guest experience. Participate in the resort's management team meetings and contribute to overall resort strategies and goals. Qualifications Skills and Qualifications: Education: Degree or certification in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Certification in Spa Management or Wellness is a plus.
