Locations: Location: 2-3 days in office in Hopkinton, MA (they will accept relocators, but prefer someone to be close)

Job Description 

Senior Design Engineer – Solar + Storage Vallum Associates is partnered with a fast-growing renewable energy developer who is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design of commercial solar and battery storage projects.

This role covers everything from early-stage layouts to final as-builts, along with construction support and equipment review.

The Senior Engineer will also act as a technical lead, support project coordination, and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Design rooftop, canopy, and ground-mounted solar PV systems in compliance with codes and permitting

• Produce electrical drawings, site plans, and detailed construction documents

• Support project execution with construction teams, responding to technical questions and reviewing equipment specifications

• Collaborate with utilities during interconnection processes

• Lead process improvements, adopt new technologies, and maintain internal design standards

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and interns

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial solar design; energy storage experience preferred

• Skilled in AutoCAD; exposure to Helioscope or PVSyst a plus

• Strong technical knowledge of PV systems and ability to create detailed drawings

• NABCEP certification is a bonus

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Strong communicator with experience collaborating across teams and with external partners. Additionally, some regional travel may be required.
