Job Description

Akkodis is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SME) for a Contract job with a client in Jersey City, NJ or NYC, NY (Hybrid 3 days) . Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in ensuring the stability and performance of our infrastructure while driving a culture of automation and continuous improvement.

Rate Range: $65/hour to $70/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable systems.
• Develop and enforce SRE best practices, including monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery.
• Implement automation solutions for infrastructure management, deployment pipelines, and system monitoring.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve reliability and scalability of applications.
• Establish and maintain SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets to ensure system resilience.
• Conduct root cause analysis and drive post-mortem discussions to prevent future incidents.
• Optimize performance and cost efficiency of cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
• Champion a DevOps culture and mentor engineering teams on best practices.
• Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance reliability and security.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.
• Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Python, Go, Bash, etc.).
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with service mesh architectures (Istio, Linkerd, etc.).
• Security best practices for infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Experience working in large-scale distributed systems.
