Position Summary

 

The Sr. Director will significantly influence and enable the growth in Transmission, Distribution and Substation capital investments in the electric system. This role will develop completely new transmission circuit designs using advanced conductors, innovative new composite pole technologies, and advanced sensors. This role will represent PG&E at industry conferences and partner with industry equipment suppliers to develop new technologies and materials.

 

The growth in Transmission and Distribution Beneficial Load requires a greater need and focus on Transmission, Substation and Distribution Design standards that will unlock greater efficiencies in the installation of new Transmission and Substation circuits and upgrades to existing infrastructure. A dedicated leader is needed to drive these efficiencies and innovations across all of electric.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Reporting

 

The Sr Director, Electric Asset Standards will report to the Interim Leader of Electric Asset Management.

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

  • Develops and enhances engineering design standards and work methods that cover all aspects of the electric system.
  • Accountable for risk identification, and risk mitigation approaches to effectively design in safety and compliance, while simplifying work readiness, work execution and enabling effective record keeping.
  • Leads the development and execution of system designs, repair, and replacement strategies to fully integrate energy resources to enable business strategies and investment decisions to achieve safety, reliability, and affordability targets.
  • Leads and /or oversees application of risk management concepts beyond current regulatory requirements in the development of engineering design standards.
  • Participates in Industry committees and standards organizations to drive continuous improvement and innovation with industry electric standards.
  • Sponsors projects to test, evaluate, pilot and approve new equipment and technologies such as advanced conductors, composite poles, advanced sensors and relay and protection equipment.
  • Understands, considers and anticipates the customer’s needs. Ensure customer needs and expectations are met with current and future service and projects.
  • Develops organizational vision and goals to ensure alignment within Electric Operations and is responsible for providing strategic guidance and cascading expectations throughout organization.
  • Develops long term strategic direction, operating plans, and performance metrics for the Electric Standards organization.
  • Develops strategy, goals and objectives that are aligned with the needs of internal clients and support the Electric Operations strategy.
  • Partners with the stakeholders to streamline complex design standards, and work methods. This includes continuous improvement in coworker training, document drafting, communication and Management of Change.
  • Accountable to create and lead a safety culture organization that empowers employees to speak up and ensure safety is always their number one priority.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

 

Background Qualifications

 

Minimum

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering-Electrical or job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Asset Data Management and Analytics
  • Experience in Risk Management and Probabilistic analysis

 

Desired  

 

  • MBA.
  • Masters of Science in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
  • Practical application of modern data analytics techniques.
  • Knowledge of industry relevant best practices and trends.

  • Certification in Asset Management Disciplines.

Compensation

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

We estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed within the reasonable compensation range of $212,800 to $305,900. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.  This leadership role is also eligible for an annual Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP) award, as well as the Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) grant.
