About the Employer

Each of our 18 different school sites is a "School of Choice" with individual focuses such as health and fitness, drama and the arts, technology, music and science just to mention a few.


The district is broken into four areas called quadrants. Students have the opportunity to choose any school within the quadrant in which they live based on their interest AND still have transportation provided.


VESD works consistently to meet the needs of 12,000 students through providing quality professional development for our staff, collaborating with parents and community members, listening to students and benchmarking best practices across the nation.

Job Summary

Directly responsible to the principal. Performs a variety of secretarial, record keeping, and public relations activities and office duties in order to support a safe and orderly environment for students and staff. Performs other related work as directed.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Three years of increasingly responsible work including frequent contact with the public


Desired:
Experience as a school secretary


EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent to graduation from high school.


DOCUMENTS:
Possession of a valid California Driver License
Typing Certificate - Minimum of 60 Net Words Per Minute, Dated within one year


TYPING CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS:
The typing certificate must contain the following information:
- Agency's official emblem
- Address and telephone number of agency
- Signature of person certifying the certificate
- Date of certificate
- Name of applicant
- Number of correct (net) words per minute typed during a five- (5)- minute timed test. (The certificate must indicate it was a 5-minute test, and the score must be identified as net or corrected words per minute.)
- Typing certificates obtained online will not be accepted.

TESTING:
Applications will be screened. Applicants who pass the initial screening will be invited to test. Testing is tentatively scheduled to take place Wednesday, 2/5/2025
