Project Manager - Railroad Transit Experience Required
About the Position:
Oversees and manages all facets of construction project, responsible for the seamless execution of
plans, organization, budgeting, and cost reporting. The role ensures the timely and within-budget
accomplishment of project goals and objectives, with a commitment to meeting quality and safety
standards. In addition, supervision of staff to achieve set goals and objectives is a key responsibility.
Once the construction is underway, the majority of work will require this position to be in the field
among the field work and team. You will work to ensure construction progresses as scheduled and
contract specifications are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan, direct, manage, and coordinate the activities of the Contractor (including
subcontractors) in delivering services, ensuring compliance with contract requirements,
relevant regulations, client standards, and approved budgets.
• Coordinate activities, when necessary, with other client contractors, third-party contractors.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, managing all contract-related matters and
participating in consultation and planning meetings.
• Coordinate the preparation of essential documents, such as the annual budget, work plan,
training schedules, inspection, and safety plans.
• Review project proposals or plans to determine the project’s time frame, procedures, staffing
requirements, and allocation of available resources to different phases.
• Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase.
• Conduct and/or lead meetings with project staff and management.
• Supervise project activities to ensure alignment with designs, budgets, and schedules; take
appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations.
• Assist in resolving problems that may arise during project execution.
• Monitor the effective use of materials and equipment, along with the contractual performance
of the project; collaborate with project staff to ensure assigned duties and responsibilities are
performed according to agreed-upon expectations.
• Supervise and coordinate onsite activities, providing day-to-day direction to onsite staff.
• Ensure that quality, productivity, and safety standards are consistently met.
• Monitor safety programs.
• Promptly respond and resolve crisis events.
• Demonstrate flexibility by being available to work on some weekends, with overtime
compensation provided for such instances.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years Railroad Track Construction experience required.
• A minimum of 5 years Railroad Transit experience required.
• 4-year college degree in Construction Management/Engineering
• In lieu of degree 5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years progressively responsible
experience of managing/supervising work crews
• Exhibits strong management skills, showcasing the ability to lead and motivate employees
effectively.
• Track record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budget.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suites, demonstrating familiarity with a range of applications.
• Knowledge of the safe and proper procedures for operating railroad maintenance hand/power
tools and railroad construction and maintenance equipment.
• Proven track record of successfully executing projects within specified schedules and
budgetary constraints.
• Analytical and strong problem-solving ability
• The ability to communicate in a professional manner with owner’s representatives, coworkers,
and direct supervisors.
• Ability to complete work under time pressure and to maintain composure under the stress of
emergency situations.
Physical Requirements:
• Work in extreme all-weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow and sleet)
• Able to walk on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances.
• Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend,
walk, stand, and sit for extended time.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to travel.
