The Phoenix Police Department's Central Booking Detail is seeking a part-time and a full-time Police Records Clerk. The Police Records Clerk provides high volume customer service over the telephone and in-person, at times under challenging circumstances, responding to information requests from Phoenix Police and other law enforcement agencies.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Operate computers to perform query and data entry functions using a variety of City, statewide, and national databases (i.e., RMS, CAD, ACIC, NCIC, and ACJIS).
  • Search and process criminal history records for use by the court.
  • Obtain inked major case prints.
  • Ability to type at a minimum of 30 wpm.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking.
  • Knowledge of various law enforcement databases (i.e., RMS, CAD, ACIC, NCIC, and ACJIS).
Work Location: Central Booking Detail at 3443 South Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Work shifts are determined by needs of the department to include 24 hours of operation. Shift, weekend, and holiday work are required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Ability to :
    • Type at a minimum of 30 wpm, work in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking.
    • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
    • Demonstrate proper English usage, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Good judgment and responsible behavior.
    • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Willing to work in a 24/7 operation, including any shift/weekends/holidays.
  • Knowledge of various law enforcement databases (i.e., RMS, CAD, ACIC, NCIC, and ACJIS).
  • Possess strong customer service skills when handling potentially difficult circumstances.
SALARY

Pay Range: $19.54 to $33.41 per hour.

Hiring Range: $19.54 to $24.93 per hour.

Part-Time Benefits:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of clerical experience.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Experience:
    • Providing customer service in fast-paced environment over the phone and in person.
    • Working with processing, reviewing, and fulfilling records requests.
    • Processing, maintaining, and auditing confidential documentation.
    • Working in law enforcement, the criminal justice field, or a similar environment.
    • Using Microsoft Office.
    • In general computer use such as email, internet for research purposes, and data entry.
