The Town of Wells is now accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. We are a pro-active department with a mission to provide quality policing services to our community. Preference may be given to candidates who have prior law enforcement experience. College degree, technical ability with IT and/or prior military experience is also highly valued. The successful candidate is subject to physical agility testing, an extensive background check and a rigorous training program. The background check will include a polygraph and psychological exam.
Department Specialities:
Must be at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent, have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, good mental and physical condition appropriate to the job requirements, and successfully complete the ALERT test and physical fitness test. Our agency will schedule those tests upon application.

The Town of Wells offers an excellent pay and benefit package. We start at: $1,271.60- $1,486.12/week ($31.79-37.15 / hr ) depending on experience ( lateral hires are eligible for more ) and qualifications. We provide educational reimbursement and other incentives and benefits that include state of the art facility and gym, terrific health care, and a pension retirement from Maine Public Employees Retirement special plan (20 years / no age / 50% of top three years) or 401K as well as an incentive-based Wellness Program.
