We are looking for an attorney to join the motion and appellate department to handle persuasive writing and oral argument of all types of motions in toxic torts and general personal injury cases, as well as briefing and argument of appeals and appellate motions in general personal injury cases

This role can be hybrid, allowing you to work from home twice a week. We employ adults and treat them as such!

Job Details

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our Motion and Appellate Department, focusing on persuasive writing and oral argument for motions in toxic torts and general personal injury cases. The role also includes briefing and arguing appeals in personal injury matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and argue motions in toxic tort and personal injury cases, including dispositive motions, summary judgment motions, and motions in limine
• Prepare comprehensive appellate briefs and handle oral argument in appeals before appellate courts
• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis for both trial motions and appellate issues
• Provide strategic advice and guidance to trial teams regarding motion practice and appellate strategy
• Review and analyze court rulings and opinions to identify opportunities for appeal or further motion practice
• Draft, edit, and submit legal documents such as petitions, responses, and replies in appellate courts
• Collaborate with senior partners and litigators to develop case strategy
• Manage deadlines and ensure timely submission of all motions, briefs, and other appellate materials
• Assist in client communications related to motion and appellate matters
• Stay updated on changes to appellate law and legal precedents affecting personal injury and toxic tort litigation

Qualifications:

• 3 to 7 years of legal writing experience
• Prior experience as a NY Appellate Division court attorney or law secretary is a plus
• NY Bar admission required (Additional admissions in NJ, PA, MA, or ME are a plus)
