The Manager-Technical Production provides direction, leadership, and oversight to a variety of multi-discipline principals and specialists in the areas of technical systems and design, which include audio, lighting, video, and show control. We provide support to capital projects, annual special events, and new entertainment offerings for Disney Live Entertainment. Projects include live shows and spectaculars, holiday/special events, facility infrastructure design/development/installation, and operational sustainment.

This is a full-time role and will report to the Sr. Manager, Theatrical Design & Technical Production.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with Technical Managers, Managing Producers, Producers, multiple Walt Disney World Entertainment Operating Partners, and Disney Live Entertainment leaders on creative, design, and technical development and implementation, project staffing and planning
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and partners
  • Focus on leadership, strategic work, creative and technical development, delivery, sustainment, and staffing strategies for each of their fields
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners at all times to define a clear vision, drive project results, and positively empower others to achieve desired results and develop successful teams
  • Oversight of project budgets and operating expenses
  • Promote a safe working environment to ensure all cast members, vendors, contractors, and project teams understand the safety guidelines and are in compliance
  • Prepare and present clear and concise information to audiences at various levels
  • Accountability includes direct leadership, mentoring, coaching, developing, managing performance, and succession planning of these leaders and their teams
  • Leads teams per strategic goals and initiatives, sets the tone for client services, Disney Heritage, and brand respect
  • Partner closely with Finance on annual planning and team operating expenses

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of proven experience leading entertainment show production, live event production, and technical fields
  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following industries: live theatricals, cruise line, theme park, and/or large-scale special events/spectaculars
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Core knowledge or subject matter expertise with theatrical technologies, i.e., Lighting, Audio, Projection, Show Systems
  • Ability to prioritize, provide direction, and complete multiple tasks on time
  • Outstanding communication, partnership, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to receive and deliver transparent, actionable, and credible feedback to team members, as appropriate
  • Available and willing to work weekends, holidays, and third shifts including occasional travel both domestically and internationally

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
