Investigator IV-V (Remote)
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking an experienced Investigator to join the Civil Rights Division, Employment Section.
This is a multi-faceted job which includes, but is not limited to, interviewing customers, performing legal analysis for potential violation of Equal Employment laws, and writing reports.

TWC connects people with careers all over the state. While we are headquartered on the north lawn of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, we have offices statewide. The position is fully remote. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

What You'll Do:
The Investigator IV-V perform complex to highly complex (senior-level) investigations of complaints alleging violations of EEO laws, statutes, rules, or regulations. Works under general to limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

Key job functions include, but are not limited to:
-Interview charging party, responding party, their officials, and other potential witnesses.
-Examination of records and analysis of verbal testimony.
-Facilitation of settlement of cases throughout the investigation.
-Evaluate and summarize findings.
-Recommend administrative dismissal, cause, or no cause in written reports of determination.
-Perform projects as assigned designed to meet the mission and goals of the Civil Rights Division and Texas Workforce Commission.


What You Need to Get Hired:
-Investigator IV: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus two years of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise.
-Investigator V: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus three years of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling, or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise.
-Both Levels: One year of qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education.

Duty may involve up to 25% travel within the state of Texas including overnight travel to attend training, conferences or outreach activities and the ability to lift 10 pounds.


Other Things We'll be Looking For:
-Bachelor's Degree or more advanced degree from an accredited university in a discipline.
-A minimum of one year of full-time experience as a civil rights investigator, attorney, auditor, compliance director/officer, or similar field involving interviewing, gathering evidence, and interpreting of laws and policies.
-Strong writing skills.
-Ability to conduct effective interviews over the phone.
-Ability to manage a docket of cases with timely resolution.
-Conciliation skills, with the ability to guide parties with competing interests toward compromise.
-Knowledge of state and federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws.
-Ability to use technology, and type at least 35 words per minute.
-Bilingual in English/Spanish


What You'll Earn:
The salary is $4,800.00 - $4,916.67 a month
