Industrial Utilities Electrician

The Industrial Utilities Electrician works under the general supervision of their supervisor, performing all electrical maintenance on equipment to maximize productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards. The successful individual is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to analyze, recommend, implement, troubleshoot, upgrade, improve and repair various electrical and instrumentation/automation systems. Also, troubleshooting control systems and implementing tuning strategies. Must be available to support Taghleef business goals in a continuous process operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company policies and compliance requirements
  • Reports hazardous conditions immediately, maintains security procedures and wears protective equipment as required.
  • Respond to emergency power failures and system malfunctions, performing immediate repairs as needed for all site utilities.
  • Collaborate with site staff to coordinate electrical work with other trades, ensuring compatibility and safety of all systems and assists mechanics as necessary
  • Provide technical support and guidance to facility personnel regarding electrical systems and energy management.
  • Plans and lays-out assigned work orders and takes responsibility for the completion of assignments. Creates and completes work orders, requisitions, time distribution, material lists, material usage lists and performs other duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed.
  • Performs circuit repairs and troubleshooting or new installations as required.
  • Diagnoses complex equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains faulty electrical components of machinery such as; site electrical supply components, switch gears, transformers, generators, circuit breakers, relays, switches, motors, lighting, chillers, boilers, air compressors and sensing devices.
  • Install, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Installs power supply and conduit for newly installed machines, and programmable controllers.
  • Completes routine paperwork and occasionally performs work in other trades.
  • Follows all housekeeping guidelines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 5 years direct experience working as an Industrial Utilities Electrician in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent is required.
  • Preference will be provided to candidates who have a Technical Degree in Electrical or a Journeyman’s Electrician Certification.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.
  • Experience with medium voltage (480v AC motor control circuits).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • Follow instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Safely and properly use electrical testing equipment.
  • Read electrical prints and schematics.
  • Proven ability to learn new technology and equipment operation.
  • Physically able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
  • Must have a willingness, desire, and ability to learn new technologies/disciplines.
  • Must be able to work in a moderately heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must be able to withstand continuous periods of moving, walking, bending, stooping, keeling, twisting motion, climbing, and descending stairs and ladders to perform most tasks.
  • Must be mentally sharp and quick to respond.
  • Must have strong communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions.
  • Must understand basic computer skills and perform “daily” data entry tasks/requirements.
