Azure Job Description/ Responsibilities Hyper-V Platform Administrator : Position Description The Virtualization team is looking for a hands-on subject matter expert to provide support for development and operation activities across the enterprise. In this role, you will provide high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services to maximize uptime and reduce IT costs. You'll work with customers, developers, architects, and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues in a timely manner. Other day-to-day work includes, but not limited to; scheduling of deployments, capacity management, triage of issues with the application teams and vendors, SME in specific products on the Hyper-V platform, and platform upgrades/migrations. Job Responsibilities
- Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of Hyper-V.
- Coordinate, escalate, resolve, and close any service request, incident, problem, and change management issues assigned to Virtualization team.
- Perform patching, software implementations, and upgrades to Microsoft technologies.
- Partner and interact with technology vendors in support of the Microsoft infrastructure.
- Worked varied schedules including on-call responsibilities through a team rotation.
- Available via cellphone as an escalation point 24x7 for all Priority 1 or 2 related issues.
- Participate in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy.
- Automation of operational tasks. Identify and contribute to automation activities. Implement automation that will support regular operational activities -- patching, health checks, application operational tasks etc.
- Provides technical expertise in the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or 3+ years in a technical role or equivalent
- 3+ Years Linux, Windows, Networking, and/ or Storage expert.
- Hands on experience in Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon AWS Cloud products
- Administration experience of Hyper-V.
- Strong DevOps/ CI/CD process architecture/engineering
- Familiarity with scripting, SMB/SAN, DNS. Proficient operating in a VMware based infrastructure.
- Engineering and architecting enterprise grade solutions for hardware and Software issues.
- Familiar with database, middleware technologies
- Network familiarity as well as general application delivery and routing concepts.
- Strong working knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana opensource monitoring solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Cluster technology.
- Strong understanding of load-balancing, DNS and networking expertise.
- Red Hat, AWS, Azure, Google, or IBM Cloud Certified Architect certification.
- Build and development technologies like Maven and Jenkins.
- Automation and management technologies like Azure DSC
- Version control technologies like Bitbucket and Git (GitHub or GitLab).
- Monitoring (APM) technologies such as AppDynamics, New Relic, or Dynatrace. Solid understanding of Prometheus, Grafana and Splunk.
