POSITION SUMMARY
This role supports Veteran families enrolled in the SSVF program in their first step towards achieving permanent housing by assisting with housing placement. The Housing Navigator will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of landlords within the private rental market while leveraging supportive services to assist the Veteran family to maintain housing stability. The Housing Navigator position is complex, and involves both direct client interaction and establishing effective connections with private landlords and local housing authorities.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT
Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a case management program for homeless, or at-risk for homelessness, Veterans and their families. SSVF Case Managers will assist you with identifying and addressing barriers, increasing self-sufficiency, and securing permanent housing. We work closely with the VA and other community service providers to ensure that our clients are connected with any and all resources available to them.
We serve Veterans in the Anchorage Municipality and in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Qualification: High Scholl Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience Qualification: One (1) year of experience working with individuals and/or families with complex needs. Experience working with Veterans preferred.
A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical demands: Work is performed in a standard indoor office environment, with field work within the Anchorage area also frequently required. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Frequently sitting or standing at a desk for several hours at a time.
Travel: Traveling out of Alaska is rare. Frequent travel within Anchorage is required. Occasional travel within Wasilla is required.
Location: 4600 Debarr Road, Anchorage, AK and the broader Municipality of Anchorage region.
