General Manager

The General Manager oversees all brewing staff, budgets, operations & Sales of Alaska Pacific Beverage Company. This is a high-level role that may involve many tasks: formulating overall strategy, managing employees with daily tasks, and establishing policies. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader, & a confident decision-maker.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations
  • Design strategy and set goals for growth
  • Maintain budgets and optimize expenses
  • Set policies and processes
  • Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
  • Oversee recruitment and training of new employees
  • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
  • Direct the employee assessment process
  • Brewing scheduling
  • Prepare regular reports for upper management
  • Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations, along with cleanliness standards
  • Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)

Skills

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role
  • Background in restaurant, brewing, or hospitality business
  • Experience in planning and budgeting
  • Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • BSc/BA in Business or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus

Work Experience: The General Manager must have demonstrated previous Brewing experience, as well as managing other staff. They must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, & in-depth knowledge of beer science.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in Manager Experience
  • Experience in a role that involved managing staff
  • Experience keeping records for quality control
  • Experience managing projects
  • Mechanical or engineering experience

Key skills to be successful in this role include but not limited to:

Fantastic communication skills – The General Manager will liaise with dozens of people each day including suppliers, employees, managerial staff, suppliers and more.

Computer literacy and technological skills – Many tasks will be performed on a computer including communication tasks, record keeping, project & resource management, virtual team meetings.

Engineering or mechanical skills – The General Manager must be somewhat familiar with the equipment used in the brewing process and the specific equipment used by their brewery.

Capable of managing staff – this is crucial to the success of the brewery. The General Manager must ensure all necessary tasks are being performed correctly by staff and to a sufficient standard. Be capable of innovation and continual improvement.
