The Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship Program
1-Year ACGME Fellow position at Children’s National Hospital,
Washington D.C
This one-year, ACGME accredited Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center is designed to provide the knowledge and clinical experience necessary to become an expert in the field and provide anesthetic care for patients of all ages with congenital heart disease. The fellow will gain proficiency in all six ACGME core competencies relevant to pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. The fellowship experience comprises twelve one-month rotations at Children’s National Hospital, allowing the fellow to gain experience in various settings where patients with congenital heart disease receive anesthesia, including the cardiac operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab, and cardiac MRI. The program also includes rotations in Perfusion, Pediatric Echocardiography, and Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care. As the fellow progresses, he/she will take on greater responsibility and independence. Upon successful completion of the program, the fellow will be qualified to practice independently and be poised to become a leader in Congenital Cardiac Anesthesiology. Academic time will also be provided for research and scholarly endeavors.
