Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time faculty position in the department of biology. Time towards tenure and promotion can be negotiated with candidates who qualify. The department offers BS degrees in biology, wildlife management, and biology education, and a BA degree in biology. Start date is August 15, 2026. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Priority will be given to applications submitted on or before January 16, 2026
A Ph.D. (near-completion ABD considered) is required with preferred specialization in vertebrate biology or vertebrate wildlife biology, and college-level teaching experience is preferred. Teaching responsibilities include 12 contact hours per academic semester to include courses in their specialty, introductory biology courses for majors, and courses within the wildlife management major. Additionally, the successful applicant will advise biology and wildlife management undergraduate students, perform essential duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook, and maintain some research that includes undergraduate students. The university has modest funds to support undergraduate research and a field site with more than 100 acres of grassland just a few miles from the main campus.
