Description DIRECTOR OF HOUSEKEEPING POSITION PROFILE We're looking for an organized, congenial Director of Housekeeping to manage daily operations of the housekeeping department at ARRIVE Albuquerque. The ideal candidate will be a motivating team leader that's up to the task of managing staff, performing room inspections, making schedules, and exceeding our high standards of cleanliness and trusty service.
ABOUT ARRIVE ALBUQUERQUE Located on Central Avenue (the iconic U.S. Route 66) in Downtown Albuquerque, ARRIVE Albuquerque is a beautifully renovated historic hotel and neighborhood hub. Originally built in 1965 and opened as Downtowner Motor Inn, this 137-room boutique hotel is bright and comfortable, with a modern southwestern-inspired charm. This easy-going home away from home includes beds outfitted in Bellino Fine Linens, eye-catching floral upholstered headboards, Grown Alchemist bath amenities, Marshall Bluetooth speakers, plush robes, and so much more. THE TASK AT HAND: - Supervises the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department and assists as needed during high occupancy.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the hotel, including guest rooms, common areas (interior and exterior) and offices.
- Manage the hotel Minibar program.
- Maintain and update all guest collateral placed in the rooms.
- Respond to requests in an expedient, professional manner.
- Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction and handles guests concerns as necessary.
- Examines rooms, halls, lobby, bathrooms, and/or housekeeping storage areas to determine need for repairs, replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management.
- Train, counsel and discipline team members, as needed.
- Seek continual improvement for the department and hotel.
- Comply with all policies, procedures and regulations that relate to the local, state and federal laws.
- Advises front desk agent of rooms readiness for occupancy.
- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to hotel requirements.
- Clean guest rooms by category priority.
- Empty trash containers.
- Remove all dirty terrycloth and replace with clean par to designated layout.
- Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor.
- Replace facial, toilet tissue and bathroom amenities in correct amount and location.
- Inspect condition of bathrobes and replace if soiled/damaged.
- Remove dirty bed linen and make up bed with clean linen.
- Replace laundry bags and slips.
- Clean closets and door tracks on check-out rooms, removing dust and debris.
- Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers, extra blanket/pillow.
- Dust, polish and realign furniture to floor plan.
- Open all drawers/doors in check-out rooms and remove items left by guests.
- Check under bed(s), chairs and sofa for debris and remove if present.
- Inspect the condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains; report any damage to the General Manager.
- Remove all dust, debris and foreign particles from upholstered furniture including crevices and under cushions.
- Dust pictures, frames and mirrors
- Remove dust and debris on television, clock radio, remote control and cable box.
- Set correct time on clock; correct TV channel.
- Clean all lamps and light switches; check for proper working order.
- Remove dust, spots and smears from windows, ledges and frames.
- Remove dust, grease and smears from telephones and reposition properly.
- Empty liquid from ice bucket and wipe all surfaces dry.
- Remove dust, smudges and spills from mini bar; ensure it is plugged in and securely locked.
- Must be completely flexible with scheduling and be open to varied schedules every week based on hotel occupancies.
- Follow uniform guidelines.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
- Lead by example at all times and stay visible to staff.
- Be part of a leadership team of brand advocates who believe in what Palihouse West Hollywood has to offer and who are personally invested in its success.
- Foster an environment where team members know they are valued, ensuring they are treated fairly and with respect.
- Assist in building a culture of open communication, spend time with team members and be available for them (open door policy)
- Continuously strive to improve and maintain client and guest experiences.
- Be a leader in managing the overall reputation management of the hotel.
- Continue to give the brand a voice - naturally showcasing what the brand has to offer and its virtues to others (employees, leaders, owners). Easily translate a passion for the brand into a unique experience for both guest and employees
- Personify the best values of the brand, demonstrating exceptional work ethic and service delivery for all employees on property.
- Effectively manage wages and controllable expenses
- Monitor performance against budgets and goals.
- Ensures service standards and all brand standards are followed while actively supporting the entire housekeeping team.
- Handles guest concerns and reacts quickly and professionally.
- Assists with interviewing, selecting, training, counseling, disciplining and scheduling of all team members.
- Maintain inventory and its protocols and systems.
- Scheduling of all Housekeeping staff.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - Has a strong working knowledge of and passion for hospitality
- Strong leadership skills and is able to build a cohesive team to achieve the highest quality of customer service.
- Displays a strong hands-on approach
- Thinks critically and objectively
- Guest service oriented
- Strong knowledge of cleaning products
- Familiarity with MS Office, Google Apps and other organizational computer tools.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Requires a flexible schedule for weekdays and weekends.
- Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal preferred.
- Provide legible communication and directions.
- Compute basic arithmetic.
- Must be able to stand or walk a minimum of eight hours.
- Requires mobility and prolonged standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible schedule - must be available to work a variety of shifts
