Dublin School, an intentionally small 9-12 co-ed college preparatory boarding school in beautiful, rural southwestern NH, seeks a Senior Accountant to join our community. Dublin serves approximately 165 students each year - 110 are full-time boarding students, and 55 are local day students.

The Director of Facilities and Capital Projects will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) and the Head of the School's office to oversee all aspects of the Dublin School's campus, In addition to the school year, there are faculty year-round residences and summer camps that make this is a year-round, full-time position with an on-call rotation. We seek a collaborative individual with excellent communication skills. The Director of Facilities and Capital Projects manages all facilities-related functions, including but not limited to:

  • Oversee extensive renovation and new building projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage all operating and capital budgets of Buildings & Grounds to ensure the highest quality and timely maintenance of the 500-acre campus.
  • Conduct safety training for B & G staff and promote safe workplace practices. Ensure that all personnel are appropriately certified and cross-trained.
  • Identify and manage risk and hazards and oversee the implementation of risk solutions that help optimize school operations. Provide assistance and guidance to the entire community's safety, including ensuring the safety of all community members and guests by ensuring the proper functioning of life/safety issues (Fire alarms, emergency notification systems, exit lighting). Work with local safety and state compliance officials when necessary.
  • Prepare information and reports to communicate the current status of capital project needs, budgets, and deferred maintenance to the Head of School, DFO, and the Trustee Construction Committee.
  • Work with human resources and the Manager of Buildings & Grounds to hire, develop, manage, and evaluate staff.
  • Maintain communication with town and state agencies as required, ensuring all the necessary permits, approvals, and licenses for all facilities, buildings & grounds. Ensure full compliance with environmental health and safety regulations and interface with various town, state, and federal agencies.
  • Be committed to the mission and expectations of a highly regarded boarding school. Thrive in a close-knit, diversity-minded, student-focused community.
  • Facilities management: maintain the integrity of the School's physical assets by overseeing planning, renewal, and general maintenance repair. Oversee the upkeep of 500 acres of campus grounds, 40 buildings including eight dorms, 25 faculty residences, two fields, a gymnasium, three off-campus boathouses, tennis courts, Alpine ski hill, Nordic Center, gymnasium, and fleet management (15 vehicles). Oversee carpentry, painting, locks, plumbing, heating, and HVAC.
  • Possess a high degree of professional discretion, integrity, good judgment, and high standards of professional conduct.
  • Be a strong, experienced project manager who can create and enforce transparent administrative systems, policies, and guidelines.
  • Be an effective, fair, and open negotiator committed to a transparent and collaborative decision-making process with all of the Dublin Community.
  • Build and maintain ongoing vendor relationships.
  • Part of an on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Supervisor experience with facility maintenance is preferred.
  • Capital projects management experience.
  • 7 -10 years of self-employment or relevant experience
  • Strong people management and project management skills
  • Ability to set goals and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A high degree of technological proficiency and knowledge of various computer software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills; ability to collaborate with all constituencies through the School community
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Available during non-working hours in case of a building emergency
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Office environment at times.
  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, climb, kneel, and lift.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods and traverse the campus and buildings on different types of terrain.
  • Able to safely drive a School vehicle.
