The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for directing the staff and developing policies for the
organization's clinical programs. The CMO works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and
physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. This role oversees the
implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain
compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and standards. Additionally, the CMO evaluates developments
and innovations in medical care and makes recommendations for new practices and procedures. The CMO
advises leadership and medical teams on matters impacting patient care and has accountability for pharmacy,
quality, and case management.


Responsibilities


  • Direct the staff and develop policies for the organization's clinical programs.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards
of quality and service.

  • Oversee the implementation of quality improvement efforts to enhance clinical performance and
ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.

  • Evaluate developments and innovations in medical care and recommend new practices and
procedures.

  • Advise leadership and medical teams on matters impacting patient care.
  • Ensure effective management and oversight of pharmacy, quality, and case management
departments.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Monitor and analyze clinical performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in clinical practice.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to clinical staff, promoting professional development and team
collaboration.

  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to the strategic planning of the organization.
  • Represent the organization in external forums and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in a medical specialty.
  • Valid medical license to practice.
  • 10+ years of clinical experience, with at least 7+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing clinical programs and leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze complex clinical data and make informed decisions.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and clinical excellence.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.


Physical Demands


  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force
frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion.
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker must have close
visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing;
viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Ability to lift to 15 lbs. independently not to exceed
50 lbs. without help.
