Category Manager - Lamination
Perm Position The Category Manager - Lamination is responsible for overseeing the procurement and management of lamination materials and components used in the production of stators and rotors. This role requires a deep understanding of steel fabrication, raw material stampings, metal fabrication, and roles steel. The Category Manager will work closely with suppliers, internal engineering teams, and production departments to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality materials.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for lamination materials.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure a competitive and reliable supply base.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
- Monitor market trends and conduct cost analyses to ensure competitive pricing.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and audits.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to understand material requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate with quality assurance to ensure materials meet all necessary standards and specifications.
- Support new product development by sourcing and evaluating new materials and suppliers.
- Collaborate with logistics and warehousing teams to optimize inventory levels and material flow.
- In-depth understanding of the lamination process, materials, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with quality assurance protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on the selection and application of lamination materials.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and emerging technologies relevant to lamination materials.
- Knowledge of market trends and advancements in lamination and material sciences.
- Lead and manage projects related to the sourcing and implementation of new materials.
- Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
- Track and report project progress to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain for lamination materials.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential supply disruptions.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using procurement and supply chain management software.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
dvanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is a plus.
The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background and extensive experience in industries such as Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere, or organizations that manufacture motors.
Experience: minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain management within the manufacturing industry. Extensive experience in steel fabrication, raw material stampings, metal fabrication, and rolled steel. Proven track record of working with industries such as automobile manufacturing, including engines, trucks, and other heavy moving equipment like dumpers and dozers, as well as organizations that manufacture motors
Experience with stators and rotors.
