Job Description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Camp Cook to join our team! The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As a Camp Cook you will assist in all camp food services for camp staff and guests. You will work alongside the full-time kitchen team to help with food prep, lunch packing, dishwashing and maintaining overall cleanliness of the kitchen. This is a crucial role in providing delicious and healthy camp meals in a highly organized manner. Key Responsibilities: Assisting in preparing all meals. Serving all meals, desserts, and putting away all leftovers. Preparing food for the next shift. Maintain upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, cleaning all areas of the kitchen, cleaning all dishes, sweeping and mopping, and laundry every night. Assign cleaning projects to kitchen aids. Direct the kitchen aids in assisting in food preparation, service, and cleaning as necessary. Qualifications: Experience in food preparation (preferred). Food handler's certificate (preferred). Willingness and ability to adjust to camp resources, conditions and programs. Knowledge of safe practice and procedures for required tasks. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment. Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations. Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
