1. Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License
2. Full Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
3. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)

Role and Facility Information

VCH-Richmond requires an FRCPC certified Anaesthesiologist to support the expansion of daily Operating Room time throughout the week. The hospital maintains obstetric, general surgery, ENT, orthopedic, urologic, and vascular elective and emergency programs.

We are looking for interested anesthesiologists to join our group for a permanent full-time position. Interest in the Pain clinic would be desirable but not a prerequisite.

The position will remain open until filled.

Richmond Hospital is a community academic teaching hospital. Applicants must have an interest or additional training in research and/or medical education. The hospital has over 225 beds, sees over 50,000 emergency room patients per year, and runs seven acute operating rooms daily, as well as a minor procedure room, a busy rehab clinic, and an ambulatory procedure centre. The medical community is collegial and supportive, with excellent relationships between departments and between community family physicians and specialists.

Richmond is located on Lulu Island at the mouth of the Fraser River, neighboring Vancouver and Burnaby to the north, New Westminster to the east, and Delta to the south. The population of 218,000 is one of the most ethnically diverse in Canada.

Richmond is the fourth most populous and fastest-growing municipality in Metro Vancouver. To meet the growing demand for healthcare services, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is planning for the future. Richmond Hospital is undergoing plans for a campus-wide expansion and renewal, aiming to build a new acute care tower. Detailed planning is currently underway with a project completion target of 2028.
