Job Description
Summary:
The Aircraft Mechanic I (C-130Airframes) performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on aircraft airframe,power plants, corrosion control and painting, electrical and related fuelsystems for T/M/S/ aircraft hired to maintain. The mechanic also performsflight line essential services as directed by the daily Flight Schedule.
This task order also requiresmechanics perform inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance,modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control,preservation/de -preservation services supporting the following aircraft andaeronautical equipment systems: Airframe/Structural Components and Assemblies,Landing Gear and Arresting Systems (as applicable), Hydraulic/PneumaticSystems, Automatic Flight Control/Wing or Rotor Fold Systems .
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Wash and clean aircraft exterior and aircraft components utilizinghigh pressure wash system.
· Performs pre/post wash lubrication and corrosion control ofaircraft.
· Repair sheet metal, structural, hydraulic and general mechanicalmaintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
· Make repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher gradedworkers.
· Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear,flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, and ventilation andheating systems.
· Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wingsand fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls,and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, andequipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, anddrills.
· Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenanceinspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft.
· Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, enter in themaintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work wasperformed satisfactorily.
· Service airframe components at line station making repairs, shortof overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
· May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administrationif not certified on a specific aircraft platform.
· May require specialization in sheet-metal, composite repair orother aircraft systems related disciplines.
· Will be required to cross train on the MV-22 aircraft platform.
· Any and all other duties asassigned by the Aircraft Site Manager.
Required educational/skills background:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
· Shall be ableto obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) cardprivileges to ensure access to flight line workspaces and critical informationsystems.
· Four (4) years previous experience in troubleshooting and repairon the C-130 series aircraft orpossess equivalent industry experience such as Airframe and Power Plant(A&P) or Federal Communication Commission (FCC) license or greater .
· Mustbe able to attain all qualifications during the 90-day probationary period.
· Shall have completed the appropriate Navy Skills Specialty Class“C” school for their airframes MOS/NEC/AFSC.
· Prior Airframes personnel must show proof of completing theAircraft Paint and Touch Up and “Aircraft paint/finish course or other militaryservice equivalent courses or civilian equivalent courses. Powerplantspersonnel may require APU certification on either the MV-22 or C-130.
· Experience performing structural repair utilizing sheet metal,fiberglass, and composite materials.
· Thorough knowledge of corrosion control and aircraft paintingtechniques.
· Must have and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
· If deemed by the Site Manager, this individual must acquire all SupportEquipment licenses that are required for the position.
· Will possess knowledge of thelearning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualifiedpersonnel, including the ability to express thought in both oral and writtencommunications.
· Shall perform requirements in a manner that meet or exceedsCNAFINST 4790.2 series, applicable Naval Aviation Maintenance Program StandardOperating Procedure (NAMPSOPs), MaintenanceRequirement Cards (MRCs) and local NAMSOP instructions.
· Knowledge of naval maintenance publications, maintenancerequirement cards, and the ability to document maintenance utilizing the NavalAviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).
Work Environment /Physical Requirements:
· Will traverse into high noiseworkshop areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps.
· Ability to sit and stand for longperiods of time.
· Ability to perform repetitivemotion.
· Thisposition requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending,reaching, and climbing.
· May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds andoccasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
· May be exposed at times tomoderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
