Commercial Mechanical is looking for a strong accounting assistant. Will perform basic accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash applications, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, in addition to more tasks as assigned by the manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All accounting work is performed in GP Dynamics.
• Answer phone calls and issue purchase orders.
• Enter accounts payable invoices.
• Process AP check runs (typically 2 times per month) for two companies.
• Pull AP aging reports and ensure bills are being paid and clean up old items.
• Ensure purchase discounts are taken on appropriate vendors.
• Process vendor and subcontractor invoices
• Process vendor open invoice statements
• Manage accounts payable email inbox and investigate vendor inquiries/ provide payment status
• Complete credit applications
• Generate and collect lien waivers as necessary
• Complete Annual 1099 reporting
• Eliminate intercompany transactions between our two companies and parent company.
• Process intercompany expenses between two companies.
• Receive payments from customers and apply them to open balances (cash applications). Payments come in via check, ach and lock box.
• Deposit hand checks received from customers (digital deposit and in person bank deposits)
• Pull AR aging reports for two companies and work with internal employees to assist in collections, call customers that are 45+ days past due for payment.
• Pull AR aging reports and review old items and process cleanup as necessary.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts (cash, intercompany, AR, AP, retention AR and AP, etc.).
• Back up phone support.
• Reconcile cash and sweep cash
• Process credit card expenses for company cardholders
• Complete customer set up forms

• 12 – 18 months minimum – Back office basic accounting experience including accounts receivable, accounts payable and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, or similar ERP, not required but beneficial.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft excel.
• High school diploma required, degree in accounting not required, but experience is strongly preferred
• This is a part time position ranging from 20 – 30 hours per week.
• Ability to commute to our office in Salt Lake, with a possibility of 1 day per week for remote work.
